Moon & Morningstar

The moon full again, partially behind the branches of the cottonwood across the street. To the left of the moon is the morning star: Venus. It is still dark enough that these two celestial lights are clear and luminous. Is the difference always that apparent?

So much to learn -

KK and the Moon

I really enjoyed Sunday evening and having a substantial crew over again and it was good to celebrate KK's birthday(although I suppose that should make me feel older as well.) The reason for the addition was to accomodate more of the family without things feeling as pinched. I think that was accomplished and it was very satisfying.

This morning there was a full (or nearly full) moon in the black, western sky as I walked to the bus stop. The moon was bright and bold and somehow it brought a subtle feeling of well being with it.

Unsettled

Being unsettled can become wearisome. The house has been in some degree of upheaval for four months plus, I-15 is still undergoing a facelift and freeway exits continue to be worked on with some of the new or temporary exits a half mile sooner than they used to be,(Perhaps weaving between orange barrels could become a new Olympic sport!) 1200 West is still being overhauled between the entrance to our neighborhood and Center street and 400 South has been rerouted. I don't enjoy regimentation but a sense of being settled would be a relief at this point.

It's nice to have a secure foundation as a base for any flights into flexibility and/or creativity.

New Arrival

What a wonderful thing to welcome a new arrival into the family! I'm very grateful he arrived healthy and well. Such a miracle to see that tiny body functioning on its own. Congratulations and happiness to the creators, all of them!

The demise of April

Perhaps he was right. Perhaps April is "the cruellest month" after all. Playful? Hopeful? Incorrigible?

Woke this morning to several inches of new snow. Beautiful actually. There are more than seventy yellow-headed blackbirds flitting back and forth between our aspens and poplars and the trays of seeds our neighbors to the east have placed to attract them. Black and yellow, green and white. A nice beginning to the final day of April!

Caleb's Blessing

Today Ben blessed Caleb George Unguren. Caleb was quiet and peaceful during the entire blessing, which was pronounced thoughtfully and reverently.

I enjoyed the testimonies that were shared during the meeting. Testimonies are the proverbial tips of icebergs. We don't often know much about the iceberg, although some people share some experience(s) that are the genesis of what they say. It seemed that today there was quite a bit of deep feeling behind many of the words. I enjoyed that.

Drawings & Paintings

Over 100 drawings & paintings by Mom and Grandpa Jeppsen spread out around the cultural hall. Those pieces of art represent real artistic talent and hundreds and hundreds of hours of work. I'm glad that we are moving towards getting those things out of a stack (or several stacks!) of artwork and out to the family where they may be viewed and enjoyed by others. That would allow for the possibility of those hundreds of hours of creating the art would, over time, be matched and eventually exceeded by hundreds upon hundreds of hours of enjoying those creations.

In an interesting way those pieces of art represent a true and satisfying investment.
