Beauty in Several Manifestations

Friday night five of us attended a concert at Mountain View. The student choirs all performed very well. They have a marvelous teacher/conductor! It is very enjoyable to see KK performing. I especially enjoyed their rendition of Gershwin's "Summertime" from Porgy & Bess and "Lamentations of Jeremiah." The latter seemed like quite a difficult piece but it was done very well. An added bonus for the evening was the appearance of half a dozen members of the Utah Lyric Opera who performed as well. They were magnificent and brought chills of enjoyment and appreciation! I had an English professor at the Y who once said he thought the human voice was the most beautiful of all instruments. While I'm certain there are plenty of opinions to go around on this issue, the vocalists Friday evening certainly made a strong case for his thesis!

The other manifestation of beauty: We took a drive up the canyon above Sundance on Sunday afternoon to see the leaves. They were gorgeous! The tapestry of red and orange and yellow with the green of pines interspersed was wonderful! We drove part of the way up and back with the two side doors of the van open. We got some strange looks but it gave those in the backseat a clearer view of the magnificent scenery.

The weekend was a feast for the ears and the eyes!
