Saratoga Springs Triathlon

Yesterday was the Saratoga Springs Triathlon. It was my fifth altogether. Feelings afterward were a combination of depletion and satisfaction. This is my favorite as far as the course is concerned with the swim of 600 meters in Utah Lake; the 12.6 mile bike ride along the west shore of the lake and the 3.1 mile run, partially in a nearby subdivision. The weather was clear and warm.

I met my goal of under 100 minutes by a little over two minutes and ended up 69th of 108 participants. My transition from the swim to the bike took almost 4 minutes, I just couldn't seem to get my body in gear!

These events are an interesting combination of mental and physical determination.

The hills on the bike portion were nice on the downhill but challenging on the uphill. I hadn't trained on any hills, biking or running. I may need to consider that for next year.

Thanks to those who came and cheered!
